Hirst began selling and repairing motorcycles at our first premises in City Road Bradford. His main source of income was his motorcycle scrambling race winnings from the weekend with the business feeding its own growth, to become the one of the largest suppliers of BSA parts in the world. As the business outgrew its premises, becoming incorporated in 1958, it also evolved. Part of this evolution was the addition of Vespa scooters to our sales portfolio, in the early 1950s.The later addition of Yamaha led us to where we are today, concentrating on the sales of the Piaggio family of machines, which includes Vespa, and the supply of parts for a wide range of trials motorcycles, including the Yamaha TY range. The Hirst name is still actively involved with the business, in the form of Steve (G.S.) Hirst, Ken's son who, with his own son Stephen, is still part of the local trials scene. |
