Part of the front section of this book is missing (part of the essay on elocution). However, it looks to be the following late 18th century work circa 1790:

THE SPEAKER: OR, MISCELLANEOUS PIECES, selected from the best writers, and disposed under proper heads, with a view to facilitate the improvement of youth in reading and speaking. A new edition, corrected and enlarged. To which are prefixed two essays I. On elocution. II. On reading works of taste.

The charming aspect to the book is that it has an inscription from when it was given as a gift in 1836:

MARY ANN HOPP, THE GIFT OF HER BROTHER. HENRY MAY 22nd 1836. ( the last word can not be made out).

A quick search on ancestry.co.uk shows a Mary Ann Hopp born in Yorkshire around 1826.
