The Diary first became known in the 1920s, when John Beresford edited this five-volume abridgement, The Diary of a Country Parson. This work is becoming increasingly difficult to find in this five volume 1st edition.
 
Formerly belonging to City of York Library. Bookplate, stamps etc. Blank fly pages removed with the library lending dates on. Excellent Library binding with stamped City of York crest on leather spines.
 
This original five volume set of the Diary was published by Oxford between the wars. Originally in black cloth, with printed labels on the spines (and spare labels inside). This set has has had a superior binding by the library with attractive leather spine. Three of the volumes retain their original spare printed labels in the back (see pics).
 
The condition of this set is very good. Some shelf wear to the covers. Occasional marks inside. Click on pictures to get close up images.
