The Water lily Tubers are shipped bare root and ready to pot to save on postage costs.



To acheive the best results with your lily please follow the instructions below.

Ideally all lilies should be planted into mesh planting baskets or crates.

Water lilies should be potted into a 2 - 10ltr container depending on eventual size.

The best soil to use is ordinary heavy garden loam. It should be free from free chemicals. None of the following soils are suitable; sandy soil, chalk, raw clay. You should never add peat or compost to the soil.

Fill the basket ¾ full of soil, firm this into the pot.

Now place the rhizome on the surface of the soil with any shoots pointing upwards.

Add A lily fertilizer tablet next to the rhizome.

Fill with soil, ensuring that you firmly press this into place, so that only the part of the rhizome with shoots is exposed.

Top dress with 1-2cms washed pea gravel to protect the plant from the attentions of any fish you may have.

Always introduce a new plant in stages, never place a new plant straight into the maximum depth of water. For a young plant, or new introduction, there should be no more than 20-25cms of water over the gravel.

With larger lilies gradually lower the basket as the leaves grow until the required depth is achieved.

NEVER place your lily beneath a fountain, near your pump/filtration inlet/outlets or other moving water as this will eventually kill them.

To obtain the greatest number of flowers each year you should place your plant in the sunniest area of your pond.

Lilies prefer warm, sunny conditions, so you will always produce more flowers regardless of species if your lily is no deeper than 45-60cms deep (to the top of the basket).
