Omron's new and improved HEM-780 (N3) is the first and only blood pressure monitor approved by the FDA that detects morning hypertension(*), an important predictor of increased risk of stroke. The monitor not only measures blood pressure, but detects some types of irregular heartbeats as well. It is designed to automatically store blood pressure and pulse rate information in memory for two people, for up to 84 sets of measurement values per user. It also stores eight weeks of morning averages and evening averages for each person.

IntelliSense® - an advanced technology used in Omron's Blood Pressure Monitors. Such technology includes: Optimum Inflation Level Setting (OILS) which inflates the cuff to the ideal level with each use, and Electronic Deflation Control (EDC) which deflates the cuff at the optimal speed to allow shorter times between measurements.
Morning Hypertension Indicator - defined as the weekly average for morning blood pressure reading (blood pressure measured within 1 to 2 hours after awakening in the morning) exceeding 135/85 mmHg.

There are two types of morning hypertension:
· Patients either have consistently high blood pressure through the night or experience blood pressure increases while asleep.
· Patients experience extreme dips in blood pressure at night and extreme surges in the morning.

In either case, it is very difficult to detect morning hypertension. By the time patients go to see a doctor, their blood pressure may have already decreased--making the condition impossible to diagnose. That is why doctors recommend monitoring blood pressure at home.

Significant Impact
There are important reasons why patients are being encouraged to differentiate between general hypertension and morning hypertension. It is common knowledge that cardiovascular events and stroke are more common in the morning, and both appear to be linked to morning hypertension. Organ damage and diabetic complications also seem to correlate with morning blood pressure surges.
TruRead mode - follows the AHA guidelines with the press of just one button. The monitor automatically takes 3 consecutive readings one minute apart and displays the average.
Single Read Mode with Advanced Averaging -when placed in the Single Read Mode, the monitor will take 1 measurement at the touch of the button. The average of up to the last 3 readings taken in the last 10 minutes is automatically displayed.
Irregular Heartbeat Detection - This advanced monitor can detect irregular heartbeats while your blood pressure is being measured. An accurate blood pressure reading will be displayed.
2 Users with Guest Mode with 200 Memory with Date and Time - Stores up to 100 readings per person plus guests can take their blood pressure without affecting the memory.
30 memory Storage with Date and Time - your blood pressure will naturally change throughout the day. However it is important to determine and track the amount of variation and share this information with your health care professional. With the simple touch of the memory button you can review the last 30 measurements.
