LARGE PYRAMID INCENSE BURNER WITH CHARCOAL, 3 TEALIGHTS & MEDITATION INCENSE

This attractive and functional brass thurible is approx 19cm square and 15cm high and is sturdy and very stable on its square base. This stability is important when dealing with red hot charcoal and incense!

This Incense Burner with its attractive pierced and hinged top also makes  an ideal tealight holder (see picture). The indentation in the base will accept either charcoal disc or tealight. The highly decorative piercings in the pyramid allowing light or smoke to pass through in a very pleasing manner.

The pyramid top hinges back from the base to allow access to place a charcoal disc and incense or  tealight to be placed in position and easily replaced

This set comes with a tube of 10 Swift-Lite charcoal discs,  25 grams of The Itinerant Pedlar's hand blended meditation incense and 3 tealights.

The Pyramid Incense Burner comes from a fair trade source and like many brass objects made in India is rarely free from minor imperfections. These, however do not detract from the decorative and practical qualities of this item.
 
To burn incense on charcoal, it is best to use "Swift-Lite" charcoal. Hold the disc in a pair of tongs and apply a flame to the surface of the disc. The disc will begin to sparkle and splutter. You may require more than one attempt to succeed. When the sparkling has ceased place the disc into an incense burner (thurible) into which you have placed an insulating layer of sand. A layer of grey ash will slowly cover the disc and at this point you can place a pinch of incense into the depression in the charcoal disc. DO NOT smother the disc or it will GO OUT. If necessary replenish the incense from time to time. BE CAREFUL burning charcoal gets exceedingly hot! The burner will get hot!! The surface the burner stands on will get hot!!! Traditionally the burnt out charcoal and ash is disposed of in running water. Today, down the sink or the W. C. is the best place. Seemingly burnt out charcoal may easily set fire to a waste bin if care is not taken. SO TAKE CARE.
