Witch Hunters/WITCH/History/P.G.Maxwell-Stuart

Description

WITCH HUNTERS

Professional Prickers, Unwitchers & Witch Finders of the Renaissance

by

P. G. Maxwell-Stuart

In "Witch Hunters" P.G. Maxwell-Stuart charts the claims of these driven zealots, often respectable members of the community, Priest to Judge, Doctor to fraud, and provides an insight into the world that they percieved as evil and sought to expose.

Whether the accused had tried to kill or cure by Magic made little difference. It was all Witchcraft!

From Pierre De Lancre, responsible for burning at least 600 suspected Witches to John Kincaid, professional pricker, the fascinating lives of these individuals are intimately explored.

"Witch Hunters" is in excellent condition. The dust cover is price clipped and the front stuckdown is slightly damaged (sellotape marks?). There are no loose or missing pages. The gilt lettering on the spine is clear and bright. The whole volume is clean and tight.

The contents of "Witch Hunters" are as follows:-

Introduction

1.   Martin del Rio: Laying Down The Rules

2.   Pierre de Lancre: Who Will Guard the Guards?

3.   Battista Codronchi: the Medieval Viewpoint

4.   Patrick Morton: the Problems of Demonic Possession

5.   John Kincaid: Professional Witch-Pricker

6.   Elizabeth Jameson: Implicating One's Neighbours
