DESCRIPTIONYalameh rugs are often compared to that of Kazak rugs in colour and to a lesser extent in motif . Yalameh are typically bold and come in a range of differnt colours, and often sport this array of small hieroglyphic-style symbols and characters around a central or set of central diamond medallions. Yalameh are village rugs and as such are made with only the finest local lambs wool, handwoven in all natural dyes. The busy-ness of this rug can add just the right amount of character to a quieter room of a similar colour scheme.
Note: You may have noticed that the colour of the rug often varies from image to image, do not be alarmed, this is merely the light of the flash being reflected back when the rug is being shot with the grain of the pile. This is due to the richness in quality of the dyes and wools that are used. The images that have been taken against the grain of the pile will often to appear stronger. |
HISTORYYalameh is the name given to the colourful southern Iranian carpets woven primarily in and around the village of Aliabad in the southern Iranian province of Fars. Pieces from this origin were formerly called Shekarlu, but they were very rare. They were traditionally more colourful than other southern Iranian pieces, the palettes of which were restricted to reds and dark blues. In recent years, the supply of Shekarlu rugs had become restricted. Then, in the 1960's and 70's, a new type of rug appeared on the market. These were Yalameh. They were as colourful as the Shekarlu rugs, but with a stronger emphasis on blues. The weave and designs are generally more regular than those of Sherkalu rugs. They share many of the characteristics of tribal pieces; made of 100% wool with a fondness for bright colours and geometrical designs. However the wool, though characteristically soft and lustrous, is machine spun and the colours show more variety than is usual for tribal rugs, with soft shades - of red, pink, blue green and yellow. All the motifs however are entirely traditional and all sizes are produced. Other weaving centres which come within the general category of Yalameh are Shekarlu. . |

In most cases all we would require to do this, is a few details about the size and type of material accompanied by 2 or 3 photos of the affected areas. We may require a closer look at the rug. In this case, we will arrange an insured courier service to collect your rug and on completion of the work your rug will be returned to you this way, As Good as New! |

On the rare occasion this may take up to 5 days depending on type of the rug and the destination. (Please contact us if you have any queries about the dispatch time). All of our shipping services are provided by the leading couriers. We are currently using DHL and TNT. We use these couriers as they are fast and secure and allow us to easily track the progress of your purchase. RETURN POLICY
Upon purchases of any of our rugs, you have 30 days from the day you receive it to live with them and decide if they work for your room. If you wish to return your rug(s), simply contact us immediately and we shall instruct you from there. Once your return is completed and we have received the item(s), we will refund your money in full. Alternatively, if you would prefer to replace the rug, we would kindly invite you to choose an alternative from our selection.
