Released early in 1969, Ford Great Britain launched the Mk1 version of undoubtably one of the most successful standard production sports saloons of the 70's. With styling heavily influenced by the highly successful American Ford Mustang, the Capri was a stylish design in it's own right, albeit utilising many standard engine and chassis parts from the Mk1 Cortina. It's four-seater fastback bodystyle enabled the Capri to be a sporting modern alternative to the traditional family saloon. Cleverly marketed as "The car you always promised yourself" it was the most popular sports saloon of the decade. The new model was available in seven solid body colours and seven new metallic finishes, most of which were eventually introduced across the entire Ford range.

In my opinion, this was one of the best budget priced adult collectable models of the Mk1 Capri available. From one of Hongwells earliest UK releases in the late 1990's and intended as an adult collectable, this particular model is no longer produced. Unlike later issues from this manufacturer, the earlier models are a heavier casting and have poseable front wheels and opening doors. The interior is accurately detailed and depicts the Mk1, as it originally appeared back in 1969 in the new, recently introduced Oyster Gold metallic paint. The “Webasto” vinyl roof was a Ford factory fitted optional extra which was to prove extremely popular with new Capri & Cortina buyers throughout the ‘70s.You are offered a BRAND NEW model.
