1x Soap 160 Grams

PAMPER CAFÉ

I started making soap because my daughter gets psoriasis, occasionally and quite mildly thank goodness. She thought that either the soap or other bath and body products she was using caused a flare up and she was using rather uninteresting unperfumed ‘gentle’ products.

I decided I would find out what was in these products that may be causing the problem and I was shocked at what I discovered.  Nearly all the soaps on the market aren’t soap at all they are detergent bars including one very well known brand which advertises itself as a ‘beauty bar’ which is almost the worst offender. I was alarmed that all the well known commercial brands used synthetic chemicals such as SLS to artificially create bubbles and worst still either using millions of tonnes of Palm oil, which is a cheap filler oil, a practice condemned by Greenpeace as it contributes to deforestation in Indonesia in particular badly affecting the survival of the Orangutans. The other main ingredients are waste products from the Petro-Chemical industry! The glycerin, a moisturizer which occurs naturally during the soap making process, is removed from commercially made soap and sold separately which is why these soaps are so drying on the skin. I was shocked, how gentle on your skin is that? It is only surprising that any of us can use this stuff!

I searched and found what real soap is made of and made my first bar of Goats Milk soap and was totally hooked and can’t stop making it. I then progressed to other bath and body products.

I make all my soap myself, from scratch not bought in bases, in small batches using several different recipes and ingredients. I only add an ingredient which will enhance the finished soap, and organic where possible, if it doesn’t improve the soap it does not go in. Each recipe begins with a premium plant oil which could be Olive, coconut, Sunflower, Grapeseed, castor, Sweet Almond oils also adding more exotic oils such as jojoba, Argan, Babussa, Hemp and Avocado oils. Balancing the oils can make soap exactly how you want it. No need for SLS to create artificial bubbles. Coconut oil makes loads of bubbles, Castor oil makes big bubbles, Olive oil makes a creamy lather. I then add at least one of these butters, cocoa, shea, mango, avocado or almond which makes all my soaps very moisturizing. Next comes the Essential Oils and then I add clays, herbs, botanicals, many of which I grow and dry myself, and spices for natural colours and affects. I use Goats Milk and Jersey Milk and Cream from a local Farm where I do monthly Farmer’s Market where I also buy organic Carrot, Beetroot and Cranberry juices for colour, no synthetics here. I buy my honey from a local Bee Farm. I really will make soap out of anything! Most of my soaps are Vegan except of course the ones containing milk and honey, always itemized on the label, and needless to say no other animal products are used and nothing is tested on animals only my children, I have found a use for them at last! Why does anyone need chemicals when nature provides us with all these wonderful ingredients?

We have all become very concerned about what we eat; now we must be concerned about what we are putting on our skin.

At anytime, especially in the current financial climate, we all need a little treat or luxury in our lives there is nothing like a good, relaxing soak in the bath with something lovely added. I make my soaps big and chunky as well as good to look at and keep the price affordable so that they can be used every day not just on special occasions

I hope you enjoy using my products as much as I enjoy making them
