The jackfruit (not to be confused with the Durian fruit) is native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. It is also possibly native to the Malay Peninsula, although it may have been introduced there by humans. It is commercially grown and sold in South, Southeast Asia and northern Australia. It is also grown in parts of Hawaii, Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, Madagascar, South Africa, and in islands of the West Indies such as Jamaica and Trinidad. It can be found in Mexico, in a different variety, in Nayarit state (Pacific coast). It is the national fruit of Bangladesh and Indonesia. The fruits can reach 36 kg (80 lbs) in weight and up to 90 cm (36 in) long and 50 cm (20 in) in diameter.

The jackfruit is well adapted to the hot humid areas of the world. Jackfruit grows well  Best growth and production occurs in very warm areas. Sow the seeds into moist neutral soil and grow under sunny location. It is also recommended to plant the seeds in green houses with controlled heating conditions.
