12"x12" Mixed Media Original Canvas

You're bidding on an original, one-of-a-kind, mixed media painting by me. It's a 12"x12" gallery wrapped canvas; ready to hang with all sides painted. I have used acrylic paints and mediums for this canvas, with many layers and tissue paper, collage and muslin, plus microbeads, are all incorporated into the layers.

This canvas was painted especially to raise funds for the BBC's Children in Need 2009 charity event. I watch the Telethon every year and finally got round to participating in my own way this year.

I'm a primarily self-taught, altered and mixed media artist with a love of texture and techniques, the visual, whimsical and the tactile. All my artwork is born in the "outer dimension" of my brain - in other words, the world I prefer to inhabit! I have a wicked sense of humour, often reflected in the text I incorporate in my work or the images I use...My layer paintings are full of depth and hidden messages, with collage elements peeking through. I love to add microbeads to the finished glazes because they catch the light and add a further dimension to the art.

I'm an exhibited artist here in the southwest of England and my altered cutlery, collaged giant jigsaw pieces and wearable "dark art" can be seen and purchased from The Seventh Wave Gallery in Bude, Cornwall - home of unique, quirky and Handmade in Cornwall. You'll also find me at Tintagel Market every Thursday during the Summer Season (from Easter through till October).

The canvas will be packaged carefully and mailed out in a padded box, along with a Certificate of Authenticity, recording the details  of this event and signed by me. The painting is named and signed on the back too!
