To use simply push the end of the pipe into either the hole and twist the cleaner around the pipe a few times to clean the end of the pipe.  To clean internally, Insert the wire beburrer brush into the end of the pipe a simply twist. This will give the pipe a nice, shiny, clean surface, making it ideal for soldering and compression fittings.

We have written below some tips on soldering electrical connections that may be of interest. Space on Ebay is a bit limited, but here are the basics to give you the idea.

Soldering

For soldering small to medium size wires,  electronic equipment  and cables,  a 15 watt Soldering iron is the ideal size,  a higher wattage soldering iron can cause problems as it creates to much heat.

When using a soldering iron be very careful not to burn yourself as the tip of the soldering iron will get very hot,   it will get hot enough to melt the metal solder  ( 183–190°C  361–374 °F)  Also a heat resistant mat is a very great idea,  they are inexpensive and it saves burning the kitchen table!

 Join the wires
Twist the wires together (called a ‘dry joint') this improves the electrical connection. It is important that the surfaces are all clean,  prior to soldering clean with wire wool or abrasive paper, after cleaning don’t touch these connections, as the natural oil on your skin will prevent good soldering.

Apply solder to the connection
Place the soldering iron on the wires to heat them, heat the wires so that the wire is hot enough to melt the solder, ensure that the solder runs smoothly onto the wires. Be careful not to apply too much solder and avoid applying too much heat, as excess heat may melt any wire insulation and can also cause pitting marks in the solder. When you have finished, wipe away any excess flux with a cloth.

 Some other Soldering tips

Giving the wires a thin preparatory coating of solder (prior to twisting the wires together)  will help improve the connection (this is called ‘tinning’ ) When using rosin or resin cored solder, it is unnecessary to prepare the surfaces with flux as the flux is already in the core of the solder, if you are using plain solder then you need to apply some flux immediately after cleaning, apply the flux with a flux brush (or stick) basically the solder will only stick where you have put flux.

Soldering tip for fine detail work

Heat your solder until it balls up. Then touch a metal dental pick to the balled solder and the solder will jump onto the dental pick. Then apply heat to your item and touch the dental pick to the item and the solder will transfer.  You can also use the pick to smooth over solder.
