This is a Commerative Cover of The Royal Air Force Mountaineering Assn Expedition to Masherbrum.  This has 8 signatures on the back of the envelope from the climbers involved.

The Royal Air Force Mountaineering Assn Expedition to Masherbrum.  The cover has been flown in Hercules Mk 1 XV222 from Lyneham to Rawalpindi and in Hercules Mk 1 XV182 from Rawalpindi to Lyneham and in Hercules Mk 1 XV306 Brize Norton to Salisbury Plain and dropped by parachute on to Fox Covert.  The cover is one of only 3,000 lightweight covers that accompanied the Royal Air Force Mountaineering Association Team on their outward and return flights to Rawalpindi for the ascent of Masherbrum.  It was carried by members of the team during their heroic attempt on the mountain and upon its return further flown and dropped from 25,600 feet, illustrating both the formidable achievements of the team and the strength and durability of the envelopes.  The cover is signed on the reverse by all eight members of the team and the stamp has been postmarked 21st Anniversary of the First Ascent of Masherburm, 28th May 1981, British Forces 1736 Postal Services.    

 

This is immaculate and has been carefully cared for since the day it was obtained, it comes form a smoke free home.
