1940'S UZBEK GRAND STUNNING SILK HAND-EMBROIDERY SUZANI
RARE VERY TIGHT EMBROIDERY,
EXCELLENT DELICATE STITCHES

The term Suzani means "needlework"--specifically, the exquisite silk thread embroidery panels made by Uzbek women. Traditionally this embroidery work began at the birth of a daughter and continued, with the help of family and friends, until the bride's dowry was complete. As the Soviet era ended and Westerners discovered Central Asian folk arts, the price of old suzanis escalated. East_treasures offers you old suzani, affordably priced and in beautiful condition. Our suzani are genuine folk art, stitched by hand in the traditional manner. Once used as coverlets for the bridal bed, these gorgeous textiles can bring color and texture to any environ. Suzani make delightful wall hangings, bedspreads, furniture throws, pillows, or even tablecloths.

Offered here is the stunning Suzani from legendary Samarkand. It is large-scale laconic pattern. The main motif here is large rosettes framed by the stylized solid leafy stalks. The Samarkand embroideress imbues the leafy stalks with vigour and force. Saturated black succulent stalks and leaves plastically wind round contrast rosette. In the exquisite color combinations of this Suzani here are tones which are rarely found in Central Asia embroidery: black, crimson, red. Medallion is the realistic depiction of the sun's disk is undoubtedly connected with the old popular rituals and beliefs. The sun is a favourite motif of all Central Asia embroidery. It passes through the history of the art, gradually losing its religious significance. In our days it appears in the form of a tulip named yak lola. The motif so widely used by Uzbeks, Tajiks, Kirghizs and even Turkmen embroideresses and other handicraftsmen is of a very old origin. It was traced back to the 7-8th century Sogdian art. Emotional impact of the composition is difficult to over-estimate. The large rosettes and contrasted black encirclement looks spectator.

Huge decorative effect plus interesting design makes this piece of silk hand embroidery is real masterpiece, which has been made with skill and love. Don't miss the opportunity to own such beautiful embroidery.
