VINTAGE SYNCHRONOME 30 SECS MASTER CLOCK RELAY PANEL

This clock panel comes from a 5 circuit distribution unit  formerly installed at King's College, London. This clock is a 30 second Synchronome current impulse slave clock with an open face. It was wired in series with a number of large public clocks within the building. This clock was housed in a locked glass fronted oak case with 4 more clock panels and a meter control panel all of which made up the clock pulse distribution. This panel is labelled 5 and supplied the "Old Buildings" according to a label on the old glass front case.

The panel includes a 200 ohm rheostat for setting the current in the circuit and a jack for measuring the loop current. There is also a switch marked normal/advance. Connection was by busbars bolted on at the panel back.

The mechanism appears to be in good working order. The coil measures 2.5 ohms and the mechanism steps if the solenoid is manually operated. The mechanism is brass and stamped into the frame is SYNCHRONOME PATENTED. The panel is 28cms x 10cms and the clock face diameter is 9cms.

Questions and answers about this item
Q: Do you have the entire glass front boxed panel of 5 slave clocks? If so, is it for sale?
A: Yes. I have the complete unit apart from the no.5 clock which has been removed for this listing. The complete unit has not been listed because the glass front makes it much too delicate to ship.
