Shown are all the cocktail sets from ALL seven years of gift catalogs by Revere. When the Rome N.Y. Plant and then the main plant in Clinton IL closed in 1986, all records were lost.
One of the old time employees of Revere copied the cocktail sets from the last four catalogs for me.
From the first three catalogs 1935,1936,1937,we have..shown are more than cocktail shakers; the seventeen gift items by NBG from the 35' catalog. Shown are the book scrolls by Fred Farr as well as his magazine rack and one by William Archibald Welden. All NBG fans know that the designer of the Manhattan candlesticks was Frederick Priess and we show a cocktail shaker tray by Priess, also the Masque lamp by Helen Dryden and lots more.
Revere gave designer attribution right from the start so there is a lot to learn here.
When did the Normandie Pitcher appear?
When was the NBG cocktail shaker produced? For how long?
How long were the NBG cups produced? & who was in charge of the Revere account?
Why was NBG contracted in 1934 for the 1935 catalog, but never again?
Why are some NBG cups unstamped. We think we know.
Of the 17 items in the 1935 Revere Catalog how many did Norman Bel Geddes design ??? his famous cocktail shaker would appear later .. so it was a total of 18 items we can say NBG designed. how many did he design? find out.
When did the Empire and the Zephyr cocktail shaker first appear? How long produced? All answered here & more.
See the seven cocktail sets assembled for the 1938-1939 catalogs.
How many cocktail shakers were designed for Revere by NBG?...the amazing answer is 13. !!!!!
We have sketches of all 13 designs. Because of copyrights and fees, we did not reproduce the original drawings.. but I have photos of the original drawings and had an artist draw copies. Important to say these are not line tracings but drawings of an artist while looking at the photos of the original cocktail shakers.
Included a short bio of NBG & an in-depth time line of Cocktail Shaker production 1935-1941.
Included important Revere Copper & Brass Company history.
and interesting to note; if you have the book Copper Heritage the story of Revere Copper & Brass by Issac F. Marcosson 1955, in all 250 pages, not one word of the Revere Gift catalogs.. they skip from 1928 to 1937 in one page.
thanks for looking. please e mail with any questions or just to say hello. please see my other auctions.
If your coming to New Orleans in July , please bring photos of your favorite cocktail shaker or collection, and please book up now for the symposium and our collectors dinner will be at the Bombay Club. please book both from the tales of the cocktail web site.
