Beautiful soft warm peachy pink vintage 1920s` welsh quilt. with mediteranean colours of yellow ochre, gold , Blue , cream , chestnut & Rose. big flower heads on a cotton sateen wholecloth . Hand sewn with pink thread . Backing is pink & white very fine striped cotton sateen too. In lovely condition . No wear to the edges at all.

fairly heavy with a blanket used as batting. Probably benefit from  freshening up at the dry cleaners although clean enough to use. There are signs of dust on the outermost parts of the quilting.

Traditionally hand made on a wooden frame. These fabulous quilts were made as wedding gifts and most Welsh girls would leave home with two or three when they started there new lives away from home. Some were professionally sewn by transient quilters , others were family pieces , painstakingly worked on by candle light.
