the figures are  a pair of family salts used for serving salt on the table in the days before there were salt cellers

the figures are not marked but have been painted in the famous irmin glaze  and the brilliant white both of which typified minton from that period

one of the figures is marked with two tiny pink dots, the mark was used by victorian minton painters

both figures are in very good condition  however she has a tiny chip on her head and the edge of one shell has been restored

the pair are 5.5 inches high
