For the calibration of all ph meters.

ph meters will normally require recalibrating on a regular basis to maintain their accuracy and to allow you to trust the reading you are getting.

Most ph meters have a two point calibration. If your normal solution range is under a reading of 7 (neutral) the meter should be calibrated with buffer 4 and 7. However, if your normal solution range is alkaline - ie over a reading of 7 - the meter should be calibrated with buffer 7 and 10.

Most one point meters are calibrated with ph buffer 7.
