Professional lessons
GCH Guitar Academy guitar lessons have been developed over more than fifteen years, with guitar students. Students were paying upwards of £1000 or $1800 to study the material contained in the just unit one of the course.
Many courses available on the internet are simply collections of information and tunes with no structure, or guitar players trying to share their knowledge with no teaching experience.
This course is properly structured into months and weeks so you can follow the lessons in a logical sequence. This way your understanding of the guitar and your guitar playing skills are built up at a sensible and realistic pace.
Even the tunes have been chosen specifically for the techniques they demonstrate, to aid the learning process
|
|
Now 5 Games
1. Recognize the open string from its sound
2. Tune the guitar up or down
3. Recognize the open chords by its shape. Now with 3 levels of difficulty
4. Recognize the barre chord by its shape. With 2 levels of difficulty first position chords and second position chords
5. Name the guitar part
Unlike previous versions these games will tell you the correct answer if you get the answer wrong thus improving the learning experience. |

The video guitar lesson is short and to the point and demonstrates techniques and solutions to problems which might arise whilst you are studying your weekly guitar lessons. Some things can be more easily learned in video format.
All the lessons have a 'hear this played' button which can be clicked to hear the exercise or tune played slowly and clearly.

The e-books with this course, offer another way to learn the guitar, you can either use them with the guitar course CD-ROM or separately.
All of this costs less than one private guitar lesson
|
This unit is made up of 48 guitar lessons, however in this unit the lessons are broken down into two sets of 6 months. The reason for doing this is to make the course more easy to follow and allowing the student to follow a more specialized route through the course. The 2 six month periods are 'Plectrum Style' and 'Finger Picking Style'. This way you can learn to play the guitar the way you want to play the guitar.

However by the time you have completed this unit your independence as a guitarist should be at a level where you are teaching yourself new tunes and techniques.
The chord and scale charts contain

Professional lessons
The best thing about the GCH Guitar Academy guitar course is that the guitar lessons have been developed over more than fifteen years, with guitar students. If you have studied unit one then you will be aware of the quality of the course anyway.
Many courses available on the internet are simply collections of information and tunes with no structure, or guitar players trying to share their knowledge with no teaching experience.
In this unit the course is not only broken down into weeks and months, but also two 6 month sections. This is so you can study plectrum and fingerpicking style in more depth to give you a complete understanding of the guitar.
If you learn to play the guitar properly, you will never need a chord chart and new tunes will be easier to learn.
|
*** NEW NEW NEW ***
The neck guide
The neck guide contains a chord guide and an interactive guide to the neck. Simply select the key you want to play in and the scales (modes or blues), and the neck guide displays all the possible scales you can use. This is ideal for guitarists who want to improvise in various keys.
The neck guide is provided as a stand alone application which also contains all the scale charts and the chord chart. This is an invaluable reference source, if you are intending to experiment with improvisation and song writing in different keys and positions around the neck.
|
Printable PDF e-books
Like unit one unit two has a printable PDF file for each monthly set of lessons. Because many of the lessons are more detailed and will take more time for you to study and practice to get perfect, the PDF e-books in this unit are even more essential than in unit one. You also get an e-book of theory and an e-book of blank chord, scale and tab paper, for your own studies and notes.
With these two CD's you can't fail to learn to play the guitar like a master.

ABOUT US
|
GCH Guitar Academy was established in 1992, however the founder Gareth Hargreaves had been teaching, and playing in bands and as a studio artist since the 1980's. The course was developed to teach individuals, school classes and groups how to play the guitar. The course was developed because the commercially available material was and is so poor.
Combining the GCH Guitar Academy guitar course material with new multimedia technology, has produced a multimedia guitar method that cannot be beaten. We originally intended to pass the multimedia course on to a publisher to take over the sales and distribution. However we have remained the sole distributors of the course giving us the ability to provide far more personal customer support.
The multimedia course is now well established, having sold thousands of copies worldwide and having been featured in a number of high profile magazines, and the course continues to grow and improve. |

Course introduction
The course has been developed and improved over more than fifteen years with students of all backgrounds and learning abilities. Because of this the course is now regarded as the best multimedia guitar course available anywhere in the world. It balances tunes with essential techniques and theory so that the student learns without getting bored.
This course has been used to teach absolute beginners to the point where they are playing professionally and writing/recording there own albums. It has also been used to teach theory and technique to guitarists who have been playing for 20 years plus, so they have improved within weeks of studying the course.
Each tune in the course has been specifically chosen to complement the lesson being taught. This allows the student to practise the technique or theory and therefore get a better understanding of the lessons. Also because the tunes are chosen this way the course has a complete mix of styles from heavy metal and grunge to folk and classical, giving the student a better appreciation of guitar music.
The greatest advantage of studying a structured course like this one is that the student actually learns how to play the guitar, and NOT how to play a few tunes. By understanding scale and chord theory as well as playing techniques a guitarist can become completely independent and able to play the music they really want to play without having to be taught every tune.
You can get all of this and judge it for yourself for less than the cost of a single private lesson. Remember though . . . . you need to practise. |
Client testimonials
David (UK) - about the First steps guitar course - Since my previous email I have had the opportunity of a much closer look at the CD's contents and it is ***EXCELLENT**. For someone absolutely new to the subject, its EXACTLY what I want - and need. The info about the type of guitar to buy, the different types, their workings, the playing of notes, etc., etc., are invaluable. People tend to wrongly assume that anyone interested in buying a guitar already knows all of this, which of course is not the case at all. Your CD will allow me to talk about the subject to a trader without sounding like a total novice! Thanks again.
Dave (UK) - Hi just to let you know I bought your tutor for my son who is seven and has been playing for a year, I think having just had a quick flick through that it will be brilliant for him to reach his next level. I myself have been playing pro for 10 years and can see that what you have done here will be a great addition to anyone who is wanting to learn, I just wanted to congratulate you on your program as I think it is very very good.
Mattias (Sweden) - I´ve tried your program and I must say that it is amazing! You explain very well, and I can honestly say that this guitar program is the best I´ve seen. ! ! ! I´ve seen a lot of guitar programs, believe me, but this one take the number 1 spot.
Email from Craig Stevens (UK) - This is by far the best course I have used as it is straight forward and versatile, by that I mean you don’t have to sit in front of the computer in order to use it thanks to the fact you have broken down the course into bite size chunks you can print off and study away from the computer. It’s also good to know that you read and reply to emails sent and not rely on auto responders and frequently asked questions
Email from Chris Pedler(UK) - I have just purchased Unit 1 and 2 and I just wanted to send a brief email saying how fantastic it looks. I have tried to play the guitar for the past 30 years on and off. At 45, and now having both more time and more patience than in my youth, I decided to give it one last go. Past learning through books and CDs have either expected far too much too soon, or were simply too uninteresting. Some of the basics here are familiar to me, but looking ahead I see what a varied and in-depth course it is. If I make it at all, it will be due to this. Thanks again - I'm just glad I found you on ebay!
Email from Paul (UK) - I have been trying off and on to learn to play guitar for a few years and decided at the age of 40 that I would bite the bullet and buy myself an American deluxe stratocaster and Fender amp and get serious. I could start a large fire with the guitar books and cd's that I have bought over the years and given up on, so I cannot express how fantastic and straight forward your course is. Last night I played for hours and it feels like I have 2 years of professional guitar lessons to work with not to mention saving the £20 per hour tutouring charges !!!! I can only say please quote me as a satisfied customer and get someone to market this great course through music shops. Keep up the good work.
Email from Bill (USA) -Starting late in life, age 60, I began my quest for an education in guitar playing. Little knowing without proper guidance a person can very easily get lost, disgusted and disenchanted with it altogether. After two years, 6 expensive interactive programs, little structure and very sore fingers I have naught to show for it all save the ability to give Will The Circle Be Unbroken a decent lick. Since I started unpacking this program of yours I've been glued to this ole puter. I am fairly gnawing at the bits to work this thing. Thank you for your help from the masses like myself that have so little to work with yet wanting to accomplish so much. Your program really is great and I will definitely keep you abreast of my progress. Bill W.
Email from Kristy (USA) - I absolutely love this Multimedia Guitar Course. I will recommend to everyone. It is very user friendly. A great product. Please let me know when Unit 2 becomes available because I wish to purchase that as well. Thanks so much for a great product. Kristy
Email from Mandy - I'd just like to thank you for the terrific CD you have been very generous with your knowledge and hope you will be rewarded. On briefly looking it is well structured with very helpful tips of which I have been lacking. Thanks Again Mandy
Email from Kev - I cant thank you enough for the DVD - I am 51 years old and have always wanted to play - bought a cheapo electric in my teens and got nowhere trying to teach myself. Now I can actually play a few songs on my Fender Strat copy! Thank you so much for a brilliant easy to learn tutorial.
Email from Rob (UK) - Having started to play the guitar just over a year ago i had a few lessons but lost interest and direction, after being keen at the start i stopped playing in the summer!
But my wife got me your cd's for xmas and i'm back enjoying it, there easy to follow and i really feel im getting somewhere and playing at every opportunity. its the best £15 my wife has ever spent!
Email from Albert - Thanks for sending me your software. I'm a 60 year old who has just recently changed over to Left handed because of an injury to my left hand which now doesn't allow me to use it on the fretboard anymore. I find your course a lot easier to understand than others I have tried in the past. It's well laid out in such a way even a mug like me can understand it. I still enjoy playing although it's just for personal recreation. I'm taking it a bit more seriously though and not skipping lessons which is a temptation sometimes. |
