Eighteenth century London token depicting Neptune on one side and whale fishing on the other. Shows a whale boat with a crew of 4 about to harpoon a spouting whale. Issued by John Fowler an oil merchant and tin plate wiorker whose business was at 78 Long acre Has the usual small die flaw by the head of Neptune; this is found on all specimens I have seen: it is not a scatch. This is a particularly nice specimen with little wear.
Will post to Europe and USA Airmail ( buyer's risk; I obtain certificate of posting) £2.00 Royal Mail International signed for (insured up to £500) £6.50. Purchasers can email me to discuss other postage options if they wish. |
