Item specifics - Antique Furniture
Product Type: Beds/ Bedroom SetsAge: --
Original/Reproduction: OriginalMaterial: Walnut
Style: --Condition: Used

Great for the Interior Designer or somebody who wants something individual and different. This high quality walnut veneered double bed is a beautiful fairy princess type of bed.

Its quite high off the floor and has plenty of room to store things under it.

Size: length 200.5 cm (81")

          width 140 cm     (55")

Tiara, Fairy dust, Barbie, my little pony etc :-), or storage bags even another single bed - as in our case.

I am not sure of the age. It has been in our family for long time. It is probably Edwardian. It has some Victorian features and some Edwardian. For example, the lovely inlay "swags" decorate the head board and the base are Edwardian features as it the cross banded finishing trim. Or maybe say Art Deco, Art Nouveau. Although a few years time difference between the two styles both are synonymous with quality. Certainly in the running to be an antiques roadshow heirloom of the future.

The small legs with their bowed shape are a carry over from Victorian times so I would hazard a guess at early 1900s.  It could be a hundred years old or at least 80!

The bed has metal runners that support a thin box spring and a double mattress. It dismantles quite easily.

There are casters on the legs.

It is in excellent condition. I would love to keep it but I need the room now for 2 single beds for overnight says from boisterous boy grandchildren who would only know a fairy princess if she needed rescuing. I think they wouldn't get off to sleep if they were both in a double bed.

Its Buyer collect really although I would wrap it for a courier if required. The Buyer would need to arrange their own courier to collect or I can give them the name of a local small time courier who advertises in our local paper to deliver ebay items and is very open to negotiation.

Costs would be negotiable between yourself and the courier, depending how far away from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire the delivery was. The courier charge is only an estimated but it is necessary to put one to list on ebay.

Thank you for looking.

On 11-Nov-09 at 12:52:57 GMT, seller added the following information:

The white material for the inlay for the head and foot boards in a precious material which I can not name here - use your imagination if you can tumpet it - but I will let you know by email if you want to contact me - eyebury10.  I did list it before mentioning the material of the inlay and the item was cancelled.  The inlay material, like the walnut, is very old and before any trade laws and is not be an issue, but if it is with you I will allow a refund.
