a 1/4" diameter medium carbon steel burnisher for metal finishing use (iron and non ferrous) 6" long blade ,including handle is aproximatly 9.5" long (beechwood handle), surviving burnishers are rare ;- the find from mastermyr being the most obvious ,but in various tool finds there are sufficient unknown rods to classify at least some as burnishers (tattershall thorpe 690AD for instance), could also be used as a microfine round file, made by daegrad of sheffield and comes with a 1 yr guarantee the carbon content of the burnisher equates to period steel. |
