ZUNI ~ CORN MAIDEN, SPINY OYSTER, FETISH PENDANT/PIN

We're back from another trip across the Southwest!  We pored through trading posts, crafts stands, and pawnshops to bring you the best American Indian jewelry there is.  This pendant/pin, created by the wonderfully talented Zuni artists Chad Quandelacy (of the famous Quandelacy family of fetish carvers) and Val Comosona, depicts three side-by-side Corn Maidens that were carved into a beautiful piece of orange & white spiny oyster shell. The three corn maidens are decorated with black jet, turquoise, and coral. 

The base, made of sterling silver, has a bale for a narrow necklace and a pin (with a safety clasp) should you wish to wear it on a shirt, sweater or jacket. It measures 2 15/16 of an inch long from the top of the bale (2 1/4 of an inch long not including the bale) and 1 1/2 inches wide.  The back is signed by both artists and marked Zuni.   This beautiful corn maiden is an amazing work of art and we know you'll love it as much as we do, so check out the pictures!
