The product uses IntelliBeam automatic calibration technology, with the aid of a provided microphone, to analyze your room sound in order to precisely aim the sound beams for best surround effect. Yamaha's unique technology for the creation of sound fields is capable of powerfully reproducing the three-dimensional environment that movie sound engineers aim to convey, in any audio format from monaural to the latest 6.1 channel digital surround. It is compatible with DVD and all other A/V sources. For home theatre and music playback in the home, DTS provides high quality 5.1-channel surround sound with many extras not offered by other consumer formats. Dolby Digital brings the cinema experience to the home, surrounding the listener with 5.1 sound and drawing them right into the centre of the action. It is the audio format of choice for virtually all major movie studios and can be heard in tens of thousands of cinemas worldwide.
