What do you do with all of your vegetable and kitchen scraps/waste?
As long as you have somewhere to locate a box measuring 580mm Length x 380mm Width x 320mm Depth, you can turn all of that waste material into something extremely useful.
Dear farmerbarnes,
Hi Russell,
Great service, prompt delivery, worms are thriving, producing lots of fertiliser, delighted with it
many thanks,
Michelle.
Farmerbarnes, hi my wife bought a worm farm from you 2 years ago for my birthday(worms for fishing), I must admit not only has it been great for fishing but also for the kitchen waste. What I would like to know is the top part is now very full and I would like some advice on the best way of emptying it and using the fertiliser. Great system, I think everyone should have one .
Kind Regards
Peter Chapman
Worm farming can be an extremely satisfying and enjoyable activity for young and old alike. It is a positive way for anyone to contribute towards the improvement of their environment. Go a little greener in 2009 - take positive action!
The Tumbleweed Worm Farm uses worms to convert this waste into valuable Worm Castings (worm poo) and a liquid fertilizer, both of which are Nutrient Enriched Natural Fertilisers that can be used to great effect on your Vegetable Garden and your Flowers and Shrubs, both indoors and outdoors. The Prize Winning Blooms at last years Royal Flower Show were fed on Worm Castings!
No mess, no bad odours, and you don't even have to touch the worms if you don't want to!!!
The Tumbleweed Worm Farm is not a "gimmicky" wormery but is simple and workmanlike, and has been developed and produced in Australia where there is vast experience in composting organic waste using composting worms. Unlike some other cheap imitations, the materials that this worm farm are manufactured from will not fade in colour, or become cracked & brittle over time. They have been well tried & tested in a country which certainly boasts a far hotter climate than our own!
At Cale Barn Worms we also offer a full after sales support to our new and existing customers, as professional full-time Worm Breeders! We have trialled this wormery ourselves and have found it works exceptionally well and is very simple to use.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Tumbleweed Worm farm consists of two sturdy nesting boxes with a lid which form a neat, compact portable unit. The upper well ventilated (essential for worms) compartment is where the composting worms and starter bedding (both included) is placed, the waste materials are then simply added to this compartment where the composting worms will quickly reduce it to an odourless compost. This upper compartment has a perforated base that allows any liquid to drain through to the bottom (collector) box.
The "Worm Poo", or Castings, remain in the top compartment and can be harvested as desired. For the average family, it could take as long as 12 months to become full if not harvested occasionally. The bottom collector box will catch the valuable liquid waste which can be diluted and used as a liquid feed for your plants and shrubs, or vegetable garden, with incredible results.
Extra trays are available should you wish to add a further tier to your wormery, at a cost of £14.95 each. Please mail for combined costs.
The distinguishing factor of the tough Dendrobaena worms supplied, is that they have a voracious appetite and that they breed very quickly. It is necessary that they eat your kitchen waste as quickly as possible, and also that they increase their numbers sufficiently to be able to consume the amount of waste that your household produces. They are supplied with approx 10 litres of bedding in which they have been living since they were first hatched. This allows them to quickly acclimatise to their new environment.
Your new worm farm is supplied with approx 1500 composting worms & 10 litres of starter bedding.
Simply place your Tumbleweed Worm Farm in a shady area and let the worms and nature do the rest!
The number of worms in a fully operational worm farm will depend on the amount of "foodstuffs" available to them. The worms will breed in the wormery and the population will rapidly grow if necessary to cope with any increased quantities. Should you enjoy a days fishing, then you will also have a constant supply of the "wriggliest" worms available at all times.
