This is a very intricately worked tablecloth with four elaborate Willow Pattern panels and small pagodas in each of the four corners. It has borders in blue all worked in cross stitch and a drawn thread hem. It is all worked in cross stich which is skillfully done in pleasing pastel colours. It has been worked on cotton, which might have been a sheet, which has been joined. I think it might have been a war-time project, there is so much work and thought in it, on what is really a very modest material which has been joined.
It would make afternoon tea a real treat.
Please ask for more photos as it is difficult to convey how much work there is in this.
Size: 44 inches x 44 inches
Condition: good, no stains or tears. Part of the hem needs restitching by hand in a couple of places where the thread has worn. As I said, this is plain cotton rather than the usual linen. Freshly laundered and pressed
I am selling my entire collection of linen (about 40 pieces) my vintage magazines, and will put on my vintage knitting and sewing patterns over the coming weeks. There are no reserves so please get a bargain and enjoy a fine treat.
