A very handsome and attractive set of five volumes, 'Wild Flowers As They Grow' photographed in colour direct from nature by H. Essenhigh Corke, with descriptive text by G. Clarke Nuttall, publ. Cassell, 1911-1913 (they were, I believe, published volume by volume). The text is comprehensive and authoritative and the colour plates, of which there are about 25 in each volume, are distinguished for their time and very attractive. Nice blue covers with gold lettering. In all, a most desirable period set. Each volume 17cm. by 21cm. and around 200 pages - so what you have in all is a 1000-page directory of wild flowers in five nice books, almost 100 years old. Condition internally is very good ; the covers are very good too, though two volumes have very light spotting. These books are heavy, and I have had to reflect a considerable postage charge in the start price. |
