We have been selling sat nav equipment here on Ebay for about 4 years and have excellent feedback. So you can buy with confidence. We do not sell cheap and nasty receivers like the ones you see on ebay for just a few quid. These cheap and nasty receivers will definitely break down fairly soon. Leaving you lost in the middle of a strange city or even country!
REMEMBER: Cheap price = cheap electronics = failure soon.
Simple set-up instructions for this receiver only:
GM-R700 SET-UP.
When using the XDA or any device with Infra red, you usually need to turn OFF the INFRA RED BEAM. To do this, select the main menu screen, Start, settings, connections, beam, UNTICK the box for ‘RECEIVE ALL INCOMING……..’ .
For other PDAs:
If using TomTom, configure the receiver in its menu: TomTom, change prefs, GPS status, configure, NMEA receiver, 4800 baud rate, Com port 1, 2, 3 etc, any that will get Tomtom to work as many PDAs are different. Do not use the TOMTOM type receiver in the menu as it will not work. Tomtom 6 will be slightly different, but just find your way to the configure page. Connect everything together and power up in your vehicle. When setting up for the first time place the receiver on the roof of your vehicle, correct way up, and in a clear place not partially blocked by buildings or trees, as some vehicles have windscreens that block out the signal. Watch it lock-on to satellites in the CONFIGURE section of the Tomtom menu. When in the configure section of Tomtom, you will see a yellow and blue icon in the top right corner, this should be moving. After a while you will see the block of columns at the bottom partially fill up grey and when locked on, turn blue. This can take up to 5 minutes for the first power-up. It is fully operational when there are 3 blue bars. Locking on will depend on the correct baud rate and com port selection. If it refuses to work then soft reset the PDA a couple of times and repeat above instructions. If it still will not work then you must HARD RESET the PDA, reload your sat nav software and repeat above.

If you buy cheap receivers then cheap you'll get. Their price will tell you that they just cannot be as good as this one. The complicated electronics inside is what decides the price.

Forget 32 channel receivers, what do you need those for?? There are 24 satellites up above and only between 5 and 8 can be viewed at any one time because of their positioning around the planet so a 16 channel receiver is way more than what you need.
