These receivers will also work under marine conditions but are not EMI protected for permanent marine use but OK as a back-up, so we recommend our MARINE SPECIFIC RECEIVER, the SA320-USB, in our other items. This one is OK for emergency back-up. The SA320 is totally EMI protected against any electronic or VHF radio interference and TOTALLY WATERPROOF.

Simple set-up instructions for this receiver only:

Load mini disc into CD Rom
From the mini CD install driver for WINDOWS / XP / Vista or whichever version you have.
Follow on-screen instructions, then check that it has loaded:
START, CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM, HARDWARE, DEVICE MANAGER, + PORTS. It will show a com port when you connect the receiver to the laptop / PC. Configure your mapping to this port number. Baud rate is 4800. When using test prog select this same com port then ‘open port’. Then ‘cold start’ if no sats after a few minutes. Select ‘view’ to see number of sats locked onto. They will show as blue. Place receiver outside as some double glazing will block the signal.
Does not work with GARMIN maps.
If you buy cheap receivers then cheap you'll get. Their price will tell you that they just cannot be as good as this one. The complicated electronics inside is what decides the price.

Forget 32 / 51 channel receivers, what do you need those for?? There are 24 satellites up above and only between 5 and 8 can be viewed at any one time because of their positioning around the planet so a 16 channel receiver is way more than what you need anyway.
These receivers will work with marine mapping software, but I would recommend a Marine specific GPS receiver / Smart Antenna. They are available in our other items ( see below ) but are more expensive. They also have 2 year warranty.
The GPS receiver advertised in this ad will work with marine maps but will not compensate for magnetic north when travelling long distances. You could end up on rocks or sandbanks! This is true of virtually every brand of g-mouse receiver that you will find on ebay or anywhere else unless specifically mentioned that they are marine standard. (this means any small receiver on the end of a cable). They DO NOT have EMI protection so may not be able to show your lat / longs when sending an SOS via your VHF radio.
Buy the best and be safe. Safety is the top priority at sea.

We do not sell cheap and nasty receivers like the ones you see on ebay for just a few quid. These cheap and nasty receivers will definitely break down fairly soon. Leaving you lost in the middle of a strange city or even country!
