Where would I use it ?

PLUMBING   
When a washing machine or dishwasher is removed and the fill hose is disconnected at the valve you are depending on the valve to hold.
The bad news is that it usually dosen't,   it leaks !
Not only do the usually leak, they are very easy to knock open accidently. A baby or a cat can manage this without practice.
Fit this brass cap using the washer provided and you will have no worries
We sell loads of these to people who have bought new washing machines that only need a cold feed (and who have a hot connection they need to blank off)..

HEATING
When you close both valves and drain down a radiator either to replace or to decorate you depend on the valves to hold.
Bad news is that the basic valves, because they are infrequently used and old, usually dribble or worse.
Even worse is a thermostatic valve.   If this is left with the thermostatic head screwed down that same head can open the valve without warning.
The solution is to fit brass caps.
If the part you need to cap measures about 25mm, this is the one you need.
