The Elite troops M42 fur hat (TypeI) is made of field-grey wool material, with cotton lining and padding,the side ear lugs and back panel of the cap are made of brown artifical sheep fur, and held
in the upright position by dual brown cotton tie tapes.
The tie tapes and blue-grey tape fastener were also utilized for a secure closure when the side and back panels were worn in the lowered position to protect the nape of the neck and chin.
The early tpye fur cap is featured with a quadratefront.
The interior of the cap is fully lined in quilted, ribbed, brown poplin with an internal padding.
The interior lining is well marked with a blue size inkstamp and factory mark.
