The RAF's War service dress, also known as battle dress, was introduced in 1940 as a blue/grey version of the British Army's battle dress. The RAF Battle dress trousers featured all the details of the original, include:
  • Blue-grey wool material
  • a large inner pocket on the front above the left knee.
  • Button fly
  • A hidden FS dagger pocket on right leg
  • a special pocket for a field dressing near the right front pocket.
  • Two slash hand pockets
  • Brace attachments buttons
  • The size of the trousers available from 32 to 44 inch wasit
