WW2 99th ID OFF UNIFORM PATCH BATTLE OF THE BULGE UNIT

To quote one sellers comments:
"To the best of my knowledge sizing began towards the end of WW2 and 
onwards. I would say that if they are cotton constructed and don't glow they are 
WW2 and may have had sizing put on them to make them last longer."

A second seller weighed in on this issue also.

"Too many collectors place too much emphasis on sizing.  They used sizing
at the end of the war and beyond.  This does not mean that the patch
was not constructed during the war years as sizing was used at the end
of WWII.  Furthermore,there was so much stock of patches sitting on US
government shelf's when the war ended. Many of these patches had sizing
then placed on them...does this make it a post war patch?  NO! 
Additionally, like one of your viewers so accurately noted, if a patch
is all cotton and does not glow, it is considered a WWII patch.
All cotton patches were made into the early to mid sixties, Then you see
both cotton and synthetic manufacturing.  The bottom line is, patches
are not date stamped and considered a WWII patch is 100% cotton and
shows no sign of synthetic material."

Burn Test:

All of my patches listed in this category have been burn tested for post WWII synthetic blend threads.
None of my patches in this category contain post war materials they are made of natural materials like cotton rayon or silk!!!

Now lets talk about Glow vs. No Glow.

Three things can make a patch glow for those who are new to collecting.

For you salty dogs who have been collecting for some time consider this as a refresher course.

 Glow Test:

1. DNA sweat blood and other bodily fluids will get a positive reaction from a UV black light.
2. Patches washed in late WWII or Post WWII detergents containing phosphates will get a positive reaction from a UV black light.
3. Patches which contain post WWII synthetic blend threads will get a positive reaction from a UV black light.

If any of my patches glow it is because of #1 or #2 reasons and will be noted as such. 
I do not list known post WWII patches in this category as some sellers do to fool the buyer.

At this time all of my patches pass glow and burn tests and don't contain post WWII materials!!!
