Original ww1 memorial plaque / death penny . Issued to next of kin in 1919 of those killed in action during ww1 . Made of Bronze measuring 120 mm across.. This one is named to ALEXANDER THOMAS MAHER. Please note this is in poor condition ,it is solid but has been over cleaned and is worn /pitted ...and still has verdigris . This was recovered by a builder when working in the garden of an old house . At the time of issue many of these plaques were thrown away in disgust ,scant reward for the loss of loved ones ....perhaps I should not admit to my cleaning efforts , but it was in a very unrecognisible state . Turned slighty to the side , the finer original details can still be seen. Its likely to have been in the ground for up to 90 years ..perhaps of value to someone starting a collection on a budget .
