Hordes of the Things: Simple Fast Play Fantasy Wargame and Campaign Rules with Army Lists. © Phil Barker, Sue Laflin Barker and Richard Bodley Scott. Published by Wargames Research Group October 1991. These fantasy rules are based on the De Bellis Antiquitatis (DBA) Ancients rules by Phil Barker and Richard Bodley Scott.

 

40 page paperback booklet. 19 pages of definitions, battle rules and campaign rules followed by 19 pages of army lists, a page of miscellaneous information and a page of diagrams of combat examples. A stylised map for a six-nation campaign is printed on the inside of the back cover. Army lists include generic armies based on a consensus of mainstream fantasy authors (e.g. Tolkien and Pratchett), armies based on myths and legends and armies based on fictionalised historical armies.

 

Element basing and any figure scale from 6mm to 25mm/28mm can be used and normal six-sided dice are used throughout.

 

This first edition of these rules was superseded by the 2nd Edition in 2002.

 

This copy is new and unused, but the staples are showing signs of corrosion and the cover has suffered some minor scuffing.
