WORLD WAR II PERIOD "TEA COSY" EMBROIDERED RAF BADGE

This item almost certainly dates from the World War II period.  It is a "Tea Cosy" - a padded cover to keep your tea pot warm! 

It is made of a shiny blue material, with some added decoration, padded throughout (padding unknown) and with a small handle stitched to the top.  The most interesting part is the embroidered panel on the front depicting the Royal Air Force badge and motto (with King's crown) and "Royal Air Force" below.  The emboridery appears to have been done by hand. 

It is approx 12" wide by 8.5" tall. 

The tea cosy has been used and there is some slight wear on the bottom (rubbing) and a small holey area just away from the top left of the badge. There are a few small marks here and there but overall it is in very good condition.

This would appear to be a home made item, presumably by somone with an airman in the family but possibly by an off-duty airman, who knows?  An interesting piece for the collector of RAF memorabilia.
