WMF TALL PLATED METAL VASE. VGC

WMF TALL VASE.

This very impressive, tall metal antique vase is stamped to the base with an ostrich over WMF in a diamond, this in turn is cased within a ribbed arch, the number 30 is beneath this factory mark.

Having researched the relevant site, I believe the mark to be the one used in 1909.

The vase measures approx 13 1/4" high x approx 6 1/2" at it's widest towards the base.

There is a narrow decorative band around the top, and a 3"deep panelled pattern typical of its era,on the bottom.The photos will show these better than I can describe.

The composition is some sort of metal which has been coated, it is more a silver than the photos show due to the lighting.

Although there appears to be no damage to the vase in the form of any but the most minor dings, that have to be searched for.The coating isrubbed & marked.This may to some degree be improved by cleaning.But I will leave that to an expert.

I would say that for its great age, and in the medium it is made from, it is in quite remarkable condition. It is a genuine honest piece that a collector may be interested in.

I'm afraid I can only describe the piece in front of me as I see it.I am not knowledgeable about these items.
