Features |
The Whistler 1788 is the first cordless
radar detector from Whistler. The DE-1788 is a sleek detector,
offering good performance and POP mode detection. A key feature of
the Whistler 1788 is the built in battery charger, and the included
home battery charger.
The Whistler DE-1788 also offers a blue backlit text display. The
display is configurable, and the back-light can be setup to change
the brightness setting when an alert is received. This model also
offers 3 city modes to reduce false alerts, and supports disabling
any band through the "Selectable Bands" feature.
The Whistler DE-1788 responds to all types of radar currently in use
by police, and provides 360 degree detection of all types of laser
guns laser. The Whistler DE-1788 is immune to the VG-2 detector, and
provides alerts when VG-2 is in use. The alpha-numeric display
allows for full support of SWS alerts, including detailed
information messages. Support for Whistler's Stay Alert feature is
included as well.

UK Gatso Detection |

- This will detect Gatso cameras as long as
they fall under the K, Ka or X bands.
- Some Gatso's are hard to detect because
they may face away from you & the radar beam is coming from behind
you as well.
- The detector can only pick up radar or
laser that is in use. Once you pass a camera, it detects your
movement and turns on. It then takes an additional 7-10 seconds
after the alert for the camera to measure your speed. Once the
detector alerts you, you'll have plenty of time to slow down
before the camera can get a reading.
