A very good used condition hardcover book, with d/w, (very minor wear, im protective plastic), of 128 pages with some b&w wartime photographs. Pages clean and crisp. The letters of Lieutenant Brian Lawrence who arrived midway through the Battle of the Somme and continue to write while serving with the Grenadier Guards. Illustrated With Archive Photographs and Maps, notes, lists of officers. Edited & with notes by Ian Fletcher. These letter's cover Lawrence's tour of duty on the Western Front from Sept 1916 to August 1917, when he was badly wounded & invalided home. He served with the lst Bn, the Grenadier Guards. Airmail only outside Europe.
