Fascinating Ward Lock "Red" travel guide, dating from 1940/41, 23rd edition revised.  Full of contemporary photographs, advertisements and fold-out maps.  

These guides are increasingly becoming collectors' items. (See www.wardlockredguides.co.uk  for more information about the series.)

Area covered : The Lake District, including Windermere, Coniston, Ullswater, Grasmere, Thirlmere, Furness Abbey, Derwentwater, Scafell etc.

Overall condition : Very good.

Maps : Because this was a wartime edtion, some of the maps were not included for security reasons to comply with the Control of Maps Order.  The first fold-out map covering the whole Lake District is present and undamaged.

Covers : Excellent.  Very little wear. 

Spine : Very good.  Very little wear.  Just slight superficial creasing.  No damage or marking,

Binding : Excellent.

Pages : Very good - normal wear - discolouration at edges.
