Description:
An excellent figural landscape watercolour on artist's paper, signed "W.R. Young" and dating circa 1900 - 1920. Framed - approx 14 X 19 inches (35.56 X 48.26cm).

This is an excellent English School watercolour dating from the early 20th Century period.
The figural landscape depicts a magnificent view of the Scottish Highland landscape with the rising mountains in the background shrouded by clouds drawing the eye to the meandering river cutting its way through the moorland flanked by rocks, flora and fauna. To the foreground, on the left, an otter is resting on the rock having proudly caught a salmon. A beautiful painting with mellow rustic tones.
The work is signed "W.R. Young" lower right.
Date:
The watercolour probably dates to around 1900 - 1920.
Framing:
Contemporary classic scroll and floral moulded Gesso work. Finish: Gilt.
The watercolour is mounted on board and has a gilt mount.
Condition:
There are one or two minor marks to the watercolour, consistent with age, otherwise in good condition. There are a couple of cracks and minor pieces of moulding missing from the frame, this consistent with age and this type of delicate material.
