William Henry Dyer.  Flourished 1890-1930

Painted mostly watercolours, but sometimes in oil.  Predominantly Devon scenes, Moorland scenes, particularly Dartmoor.  He lived most of his life in Babbacombe, Near Torquay, Devon.  He and his brother Christopher were amateur artists. Albeit, although untrained, very good ones.  William in particular, is now commanding reasonable prices for his work.  In 1900 he exhibited in Graves Gallery London.  He travelled to Switzerland, Italy, India and Egypt.  J. Salmon, Sevenoaks of postcard publishing fame, published his works for postcards of mainly West Country views, especially of Dartmoor in the 1920s.

Condition:  Old type backing which could do with a refurbish.  Fine as it is, does the job, just doesn't look that aesthetically pleasing!  Bit dusty under the glass.  Frame taken a few minor knocks around the edges.  Picture VGC.  No foxing, damage or loss of colour.   

Lovely picture by a talented, known artist.  Also, in todays market, a good investment - that won't get wiped out by the share price or anything going bust!  And, you get the pleasure of looking at it!
