W & A.K. JOHNSTON'S WAR MAP OF PALESTINE / EGYPT WW1 ?

This auction is for a genuine War Map of Palestine by W & A K Johnston, Ltd., Edinburgh,  who I understand were amongst the most important figures in the production of Maps in the late 19th century and early 20th century.

This map also includes Lower Egypt, Sinai & c.

Railway lines are included on this map which I understand may not have been built until 1891. Given this, the title & that my reseach indicate that Johnson's ceased producing such maps before WW11, I am making an educated guess that it dates to WW1, but I do not know this for a fact. Please let me know if you know better as I have no wish to mislead.

Folded size 22cm x 13cm.

This Map is produced on what I understand to be a harder wearing Linen type material.

The cover is frankly very tatty as you can see from my picture. The map itself is complete but showing wear and tear, with splits in evidence at corner folds. I don't believe that it is in imminent danger of falling apart though. The map is also slightly grubby and has a small (what I take to be) water stain in the bottom right hand corner. There are also a couple of & small pencil marks and some places seem to have been highlighted out with pencil dots. But then I guess that if this map has gone to War in early 20th Century Palestine, its done well to survive at all.
