VOIGTLANDER BESSA 66, FOLDING VINTAGE CAMERA - 1930/40s
This camera has been in the family since the 1940s at least and has not been out of it's case for over forty years.
The general condition is excellent: There are no tears, marks or damage to the leatherette (?) facings. A strong black colour throughout with no signs of fading.
The metal work is bright and has no visible signs of rust and all parts move smoothly and freely. There is some minor pitting on a corner part of the base plate. I believe this camera did have a folding filter/lens cover but this is missing. The black bellows are completely intact with no visible signs of wear. All the chrome parts are very clean and bright.
The shutter is named as 'COMPUR' and the lens is a HELIAR 1:3.5 F=7.5cm. The lens appears to be optically perfect with no scratches or signs of poor cleaning. The lens face is bright and clear.
We are not camera experts but my research leads me to believe that the Heliar lens on this particular early model is more unusual.
The photographs show the excellent condition of this camera considering it's age. No attempt has been made to load a film but I can only assume that this camera should work perfectly.
The leather case is also in excellent condition with strap. The buckle and fastners are in very good condition. Most of the stitching is inplace and the leather is soft and supple with high gloss sheen on the outer case.
Hopefully this will be of interest and I will start the price low with no reserve.
