Virtual A5000 Acorn RISC OS emulator for Windows PC

This is an original copy of the now discontinued VirtualA5000 emulator. It will run on most PCs running Windows 95, 98, 2000, or XP, including laptops. I believe that it will also work on Vista but I haven't actually tried it. It faithfully emulates an Acorn A5000 computer running RISC OS 3.1 but it's much better than the original A5000. For a start it's very much faster. With a modern PC you can expect speeds way in excess of even a Strong ARM RiscPC. It also has 16MB of RAM whereas the A5000 had a normal maximum of 4MB. You also can have some features of much later machines such as long filenames and more than 77 files per directory and the hard disc can me much bigger then the original limit of 512MB. Because of these improvements over the original A5000 hardware this emulator can often run later software which either wouldn't work or runs too slowly on a 'real' A5000.

Drivers are provided so that with Windows 2000 or better the PC's CD ROM and internal floppy drive (if it has them) can be used as Acorn compatible drives from within the emulator. This lets you install or run software from original Acorn format discs.

The emulator comes with a huge 'software pack' for you to install. This includes utilities, applications, wordprocessors, spreadsheet, graphics and music programs, and much more.

This is a copy of the very last version of this software ever released. Unlike some other copies sold on ebay you won't have to spend ages trawling the web trying to find patches and updates. Although not new the CD is in 'as new' condition and has been tested and installs perfectly on a PC without problems.
