A very rare book passed down by my family. This is "Naval sketches" by Salvator Valda and Henry Hunt". Circa 1910.
This was presented personally to a now long dead member of my family and has in the inside cover "Presented by Staff Surgeon Henry Hunt RN". Believed to be 1st edition. (a similar one is selling on the abebooks site for $510) although we have set a much lower reserve.
Pages colour and black and white, very rare illustrations, and all in good condition on the original glossy boards of the 1st edition. The dust jacket is intact and original but ripped in several places.
The cover is in fair condition but the spine is loose and staples have rusted, although not onto any pages. The picture on the front cover has an inset picture of a sailor from HMS Blake. Dedicated to Vice admiral his serene highness prince louis of battenberg. Also has a foreword by Henry hunt.
