A lovely vintage soft flannel nursing shawl from the swansea Valley. Fawn & cream simple pattern in 2" squares forming the traditional grid pattern. Dating to about 1920.Measures 64" x 64" plus a long twisted 9" fringe. it is in excellent condition , clean & ready to use , a couple of very minor repairs near the edge.These shawls were usrd to wrap the baby in warm and safe whilst the mother continued with a work. Not just around the home but in the Mills ,factories and on the farms. allowing her hands free to toil.  looks great over a chair or as a tablecloth. Or wear as it was designed as a great warm shawl.

Comes with care instructions.A lovely piece of Welsh textile & Social history that will last lifetimes with a little care.
