Tannoy Chatsworth cabinets
Fitted with the superb 12" Dual-Concentric Monitor Gold
8-ohms with Alnico magnets...beautiful sound. Sweet,open & airy with lovely warm punchy bass.
Roll off & Energy controls.
No cloth,these were my own project & I removed it so they sounded better.
Basically these are made up of different monitor gold components.
Crossovers from early Lancasters. A hole was drilled on the back to allow the cable through & resemble early type 3/LZ or Lancaster. Badges are also from Lancasters.
Monitor Gold drivers & Cabinets are Chatsworth.
The foam on the outer edge which sits between baffle & chassis is gone,but they still fit ok.
Different wadding has been used as the original stuff was a bit flimsy.
Front baffles have been sprayed black & look very smart.
Gold plated 4mm banana sockets fitted to the original cable ends.
Cabinets are very good for age, 1 has a cup/plant pot ring on the top. Solid & heavy with minor dings here & there & 1 ding to a back corner.
These sound sweet & lovely,with nice deep warm bass...
I've used these for my own listening for quite some time now,but I feel the bug to change,which I'll probably regret but hey!
The cabinets got a bit of a polish the other day & they've come up nice,hope the pictures do them justice.
1 dust cover has a few slight ripples but has no effect to the sound,the other dust cover has become part-unglued,this again does not affect the detail but at higher volume rattles,this rattle is just the cover vibrating, NOT the coil!

...yes they are Monitor Gold not HPD! With Tannoplas rubber surround which were fitted to later Lancasters & Chatsworths.
